History

The building was built 1931 by the City of Helsinki to accommodate the General and Girls’ Vocational School and the Printing School.

The layout of the six-storey building was based on a wide middle corridor with classrooms on both sides. The street front façade is made of Santamäki brick. The gilded round reliefs above the facade windows have been made by sculptor Gunnar Finne.

In the 1980’s the building was converted to temporary operate as an art museum while Ateneum was refurbished. The building was then converted into office for the city authorities and the basement floors were built in the inner yard.

The building will be transformed into a modern, vibrant and cozy office where people thrive, and companies succeed. The offices will be tailored for the new occupants.

Spaces

The office building is about 7.200 sqm with six standard office floors, a new attic and two basements. The office floors are open, bright and has a good floor to ceiling height. The new attic will be the grooviest space in the building.

The upper cellar is right under the inner courtyard and has a lot of skylights bringing light into the space. There’s an auditorium and more meeting rooms can be built. The second basements is perfect for social space, gym and storage and there is a small car parking garage.

Location

KOO3 is located in central Helsinki with excellent accessibility. Kamppi metro station, its bus terminals (local and long-distance) and underground parking areas are across the block. Additionally, the central railway station is a couple of blocks away as well as several tram stops sitting just around the corner.
